Qualifying employees in companies for Additive Manufacturing

LZH | Additive Manufacturing processes can be used flexibly, for example to compensate for supply bottlenecks or to produce individualized components in a resource-saving manner. For companies to take advantage of these benefits, they must qualify their employees for 3D printing.

Specialists for Additive Manufacturing require special knowledge. In the automotive industry, certification is often required to demonstrate that employees are suitably qualified. For welding, national and international certification programs are established.

Courses for "Specialists for Additive Manufacturing Processes" with the subjects metal or plastics are offered by the LZH Laser Akademie GmbH and five DVS training institutions.

On the initiative of the European Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting (EWF) and the national certification bodies in various European countries, a certification system is currently being established at the EU level. The EU-funded projects CLLAIM and SAM are developing training standards and credit systems for skilled workers.
