PhoenixD | Leibniz University Hannover and the Volkswagen Foundation are inviting 150 young researchers in the field of optics and photonics to Hannover from 21 to 22 October 2020. Then the event "Humboldt meets Leibniz" will take place for the first time in Schloss Herrenhausen.

Professional discussions, active networking and tips for career planning are the core elements of the new event series "Humboldt meets Leibniz". The network meeting of Leibniz University Hannover and the Volkswagen Foundation will take place in Hannover from 21 to 22 October 2020. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation supports the conference.

Under the slogan "Connecting Talents Across Generations", the new networking event aims to bring together every two years 150 young scientists and scholars from Germany and abroad with 15 Alexander von Humboldt Award Winners on a single topic every two years.

Application deadline for conference participation: 20 April 2020

This year the focus is on emerging topics in optics and photonics. The conference covers research questions from theory to the manufacture of products. These include, for example, investigations into materials and metamaterials, quantum optics, lasers, imaging and metrology. The Cluster of Excellence PhoenixD accompanies the event.

Doctoral students and postdocs who are researching in the field of optics and photonics can apply for participation until 20 April 2020 at www.uni-hannover.de/HmL. For selected participants all expenses in relation to the conference will be covered and there will be provided an allowance for travel and accommodation of up to 1000 Euro.
