PZH/LZH | All institutes of the Hannover Centre for Production Technology as well as the Laser Zentrum will contribute to the cluster's motto "Photonics, Optics, and Engineering: Innovation Across Disciplines". The common goal of the scientists is to redefine the design and manufacture of precision optics.
The lighthouse project with scientists from mechanical engineering, physics, electrical engineering, computer science and chemistry was approved in September 2018 within the framework of the Excellence Strategy of the Federal Government and the Länder - for an initial period of seven years it will have more than 50 million euros at its disposal. PhoenixD cooperation partners of Leibniz University are the TU Braunschweig, the Laser Zentrum Hannover, the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute) and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt.
Precision optical systems - wide range of applications
Today, highly functional and at the same time highly precise optical systems are manufactured and adjusted in complex multi-stage processes and often by hand. The result is high costs, which often prevent their widespread use in life sciences, industrial optics, agriculture and everyday life. PhoenixD will break new ground in the cost-effective manufacture of precision optics and their broad application.
